Biography:

Nellie Kathryn Bagby, 106, passed away on July 10, 2018, at Loch Haven Nursing Home.  She was born on December 20, 1911, the first born child of Grover and Alla Leusley Dameron. On June 8, 1929, she married R.D. Bagby, son of Arthur and Jennie Bagby.  For many years, she and R.D. lived on the family farm near Mt. Airy.  After R.D. was no longer able to farm, they moved to Moberly, where Nellie worked as a nurse at Community Memorial Hospital.

R.D. and Nellie were the parents of four children:  Robert (Susanne) of Orange, CA; Jennie Taylor (James) of Westerville, OH; Larry (Kathy) of Macon, MO; and Betty Maupin (James) of Independence, MO.

Until her health declined, Nellie was very active in her church, Jefferson Avenue United Methodist. She was a member of the Altruistic Sunday School Class as well as United Methodist Women.  The friendships she made there were enjoyed and blessings to her.  She was a firm believer in her faith and had read the Holy Bible through many times.

Nellie was greatly interested in genealogical research.  She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as Daughters of the Confederacy. She also loved needlework, leaving her family with countless doilies, afghans and quilts to cherish in her memory.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, R.D, as well as her five younger siblings, Rev. Ivan Dameron, Faye Bench, Loraine Cook, Ed Dameron and Bill Dameron. She also mourned the passing of her grandson, John Bagby, and two great granddaughters, Bonnie Lirtzman and Dana Taylor.  Nellie was very close to R.D.'s family and was saddened at the passing of his brothers, Lee, Ford and Fay, and his sister, Creta. She missed each of them greatly and was longing to see them again in Heaven.

Surviving are her four children and their spouses, many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as great-great grandchildren.  She also leaves R.D.'s two surviving sisters, Mary Jo Chloupek and Emma Lou Marshall, and many nieces and nephews.  Nellie considered every addition to her family tree, whether through birth or marriage, as wonderful blessings, always interested in their lives and enjoying time spent with them.
