Biography:

Roberta Sue (Hohl) Richardson, 85, of Moberly, passed away July 6, 2018 at Meadow Ridge Estates in Moberly, Missouri.  She was born August 12, 1932 in Hamden, Missouri and grew up in Toledo, Ohio.  Her parents were Jacob Henry Hohl and Rosa Goldean (Foudree) Hohl.

Sue moved to Darksville after high school to be near the Foudrees, and it was there that she met her husband Hugh who had moved there after serving in World War II to be near his sister Sibyl Wolverton.  They were united in marriage on March 28, 1952 in Hugh's hometown of Timbo, Arkansas.  They were married for 66 years.  They lived on a 10 acre farm in Huntsville until 2007 when they sold the farm and moved to Moberly.  One full acre of the farm was planted as garden.  Sue, Hugh, and family spent summers tending the garden, picking bushels of vegetables, and canning them for use during the winter.

Sue was a homemaker and gifted cake decorator.  She started baking and decorating cakes at home for family and friends.  Word of her decorating skill reached John Gillan, of Gillan's Bakery in Moberly.  He visited Sue at her home and asked her to work for him.  She accepted the offer and worked there for many years.  Sue was also a remarkable seamstress.  She sewed matching outfits for her children, quilts and furnishings for the house, and after she retired from cake decorating, created many designer Barbie Doll dresses.  She loved the challenge of creating the dresses by looking at a picture of the dress taken from a magazine.  She was also active in the Huntsville 4-H Club for many years and was a member of the Huntsville First Baptist Church.  Sue was especially proud that her four children and four grandchildren all obtained college degrees.

Survivors include: husband, Hugh Richardson, of Moberly, MO, a son, David (Dena) Richardson of St. Louis, MO; three daughters, Sharon (Michael) Gordon, of Punta Gorda, FL, Vicki (Lyndon) Schutzler, of Monterey, CA, Dr. Mary Richardson of Allendale, MI, Grandchildren; Matthew (Chelci) Richardson, St. Charles, MO, Andrew Richardson, Washington, DC, Lindsay Schutzler, Monterey, CA, Lauren (Ronnie) Palmer of Greeley, CO, Great Granddaughters, Evie Palmer, Lia Jo Palmer, and Zoe Richardson.  She was preceded in death by both her parents, and her sister, Mary Lou (Hohl) Caligiuri.
